Ryan Pratt founded Pratt Law with a simple philosophy: exceptional legal representation begins with understanding the client’s goals. Every legal matter carries important personal, financial, or business consequences, and Ryan believes an attorney’s role extends beyond answering legal questions. His role is to provide practical guidance, strategic counsel, and trusted advocacy that allows clients to make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.

After beginning his legal career with a large law firm, Ryan developed experience representing clients in sophisticated business transactions, commercial and residential real estate matters, commercial lending, construction and development, estate planning, probate, and complex civil litigation throughout Middle Tennessee. While he valued the experience and mentorship he received, he realized that what he found most rewarding was not simply resolving legal issues—it was building lasting relationships with the people and businesses he represented.

That realization led him to establish Pratt Law.

Today, Ryan represents entrepreneurs, business owners, developers, investors, lenders, contractors, property owners, and families throughout Middle Tennessee. Whether serving as outside general counsel, negotiating complex transactions, drafting carefully tailored legal documents, or advocating for clients in the courtroom, Ryan is committed to helping clients protect what they have built and position themselves for long-term success.

A Commitment to Service

Ryan’s commitment to service began long before he entered the legal profession.

Raised in a small town in upstate New York, Ryan witnessed the events of September 11, 2001, during his formative years. Motivated by a desire to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a Tank Commander. Leading soldiers and operating in a demanding environment instilled the discipline, accountability, and leadership that continue to shape his approach to the practice of law.

As military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan began to wind down, Ryan pursued a legal career with the same commitment to service that first inspired him to enlist. The values developed through military service—preparation, integrity, accountability, and perseverance—continue to influence the way he represents every client.

A Litigation Foundation

Ryan’s legal career was built in the courtroom. Early in his practice, he developed extensive experience handling complex civil litigation, representing clients in business disputes, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, fiduciary litigation, injunctions, contract disputes, and other contested matters throughout Middle Tennessee. He has represented clients in trial courts across the region and has handled appeals before the Tennessee Court of Appeals.

That litigation background continues to shape every aspect of his practice today. Whether drafting a commercial agreement, negotiating a real estate transaction, structuring a business entity, documenting a commercial loan, or preparing an estate plan, Ryan approaches each matter with the perspective of a litigator who understands how documents will be interpreted, challenged, and enforced if a dispute arises. His objective is to identify potential issues before they become lawsuits while remaining fully prepared to advocate aggressively when litigation cannot be avoided.

Solving Complex Problems

Ryan enjoys solving difficult legal and business problems. Some matters require thoughtful planning and careful negotiation, while others demand decisive courtroom advocacy. Whether structuring a sophisticated commercial transaction, negotiating a complex real estate acquisition, advising a growing business, or litigating a high-stakes dispute, Ryan approaches every matter with careful preparation, strategic thinking, and a relentless focus on achieving practical results for his clients.

His practice is centered on business law, commercial and residential real estate, commercial lending and finance, construction and development, estate planning, probate, and civil litigation. Because these areas frequently intersect, Ryan develops comprehensive legal strategies that address the broader business and personal objectives behind each legal matter rather than viewing issues in isolation.

Business & Real Estate Perspective

He particularly enjoys working with entrepreneurs, developers, investors, and business owners because he understands the challenges and rewards of building something from the ground up. His own interest in investing began after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, which inspired a lasting appreciation for entrepreneurship, real estate investing, and long-term wealth creation. As a real estate investor himself, Ryan understands that legal decisions often carry significant business and financial consequences. That perspective enables him to provide advice that is both legally sound and commercially practical.

Long-Term Client Relationships

Ryan believes clients deserve more than technical legal advice. They deserve an attorney who is accessible, communicates honestly, responds promptly, and is willing to have difficult conversations when necessary. His clients value practical advice grounded in experience—not unnecessary complexity or one-size-fits-all solutions. Many individuals and businesses who initially retain Ryan for a single transaction or dispute continue to rely on him as trusted legal counsel as their businesses grow, investments expand, and legal needs evolve. Those long-term relationships remain one of the most rewarding aspects of his practice.

Outside the Office

Outside the office, Ryan enjoys spending time with his dog, Annie, hiking throughout Tennessee, golfing, reading, and investing in real estate. These interests provide perspective and reinforce the discipline, curiosity, and long-term thinking that guide both his personal life and legal practice.

A Commitment to Every Client

For Ryan, practicing law is ultimately about helping people build, protect, and preserve what matters most. Whether negotiating a significant business transaction, advising a developer on a new project, protecting a family’s legacy through estate planning, or standing beside a client in the courtroom, Ryan remains committed to providing practical legal counsel, strategic advocacy, and trusted representation at every stage of the legal process.

Ryan proudly serves clients throughout Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Clarksville, Lebanon, Gallatin, Columbia, and the surrounding communities.
